Delicate flower branches with delicate yellow, white and predominantly pink buds, some of which seem to float freely, stand in a green vase and extend to the upper edge of the picture. The vase stands on a table together with a large kerosene lamp, on the shade of which a kind of glare protection is attached to the side. A plate of bananas, another small vase with blue-purple cyclamen and two books lying on top of each other can also be seen on the table. The table is round and made of wood, the surface polished to a high gloss. A clearly visible chair back behind the table forms a seating area in conjunction with the reddish-brown sofa, which - contrasted by the flatness of the yellow wall - conveys a great sense of coziness. The painting shows a detail of the living room on the first floor of the Münter house on Kottmülleralle, which Gabriele Münter bought in 1909 as a retreat for herself and Kandinsky.
